WHAT IS BOX 4?

Box 4 is a nonprofit organization offering rehabilitation services to men and women of Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and first-responders in surrounding cities.

Rehabilitation services are specialized, on-scene support services provided by trained volunteer organizations to firefighters and other first responders during emergencies, such as fires, hazardous material incidents, or natural disasters. These services focus on protecting the physical and mental well-being of personnel, helping to mitigate the effects of extreme fatigue, dehydration, and stress.

The organization responds to all 2 alarm or greater fires in Dallas and, when requested, to Hazmat calls, train derailments, SWAT incidents, large demonstrations, plane crashes at Love Field or DFW Airport, and other large scale disasters.

Box 4 is part of the Urban Search and Rescue Team that encompasses a 16-county region. Whenever DFR is deployed to an incident within this region, Box 4 will provide assistance as requested.

Members volunteer their time to provide these services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each member is notified via text message from the Dallas Fire Dispatch of an incident. Based on protocol, one or two members will respond to Dallas Fire Station 28 (8701 Greenville Avenue) where our emergency response vehicles are housed.  Other members arrive at the scene in their personal vehicles.
